Phlebotomy

Course overview: The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to teach the knowledge in technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy, including the collection of blood specimens and venipuncture required to become a Phlebotomy technician. The Phlebotomy Technician program includes theory and hands-on instruction.
 

 The curriculum includes:

  • Anatomy and Physiology relevant to phlebotomy

  • Blood collection techniques

  • Infection control procedures

  • Handling and transporting blood specimens

  • Patient communication and interaction

Hands-on Training: Students will have the opportunity for hands-on training in a simulated clinical environment. This practical experience ensures that you are well-prepared for real-world scenarios in a healthcare setting.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the Phlebotomy course, students will be eligible to sit for the National phlebotomy certification exam. This certification is a valuable credential for pursuing a career as a certified phlebotomy technician.

Course Format: The PhlebotomyTraining Program consists of a combination of classroom lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions, and clinical externship experiences in healthcare facilities. Students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings under supervision.

Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic proficiency in English language and computer skills is recommended.

Certification and Career Opportunities: Successful completion of the program may prepare students for certification exams, such as the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) credentials. Graduates may pursue entry-level positions in Lab centers, hospitals, and other healthcare settings as competent Phlebotomist.  Louisiana Graduates will be required to apply for additional licensure through LBME
