The classes cover a broad range of topics ranging from how to bathe a resident, to positioning a resident properly. You will learn about abuse and neglect, how to feed and dress a resident, proper body mechanics for lifting and turning residents. Also, topics such as recognizing depression, dealing with dementia, infection control issues, and catheter care. The classroom time is 40 hours that is part lecture and part hands-on skills training. The clinical aspect is 40 hours at a clinical site. Students will perform skills that were learned from their classroom training.
